Year in Review: 2016

There are still times I have got to pinch myself because 2016 feels like a dream.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my downers this year. But the good has truly outweighed the bad.

This year I was able to fulfill a lifelong dream to publish a book. A couple actually, and a whole bunch more lined up for 2017. (More on those in a bit.)

I’ve met some of the most amazing people. Special shout out to my cult of beta kitties whom I culled and pulled together from my regular Twitter interactions. I know my time with them is limited as they are all going to end up moving on with bigger and better things. Particularly Jen DeLuca. I informed her thusly long ago. giphy

I’ve also been able to beta read some pieces for other authors and let me just say, there are some crazy talented people out there. If you do not read indie or small press authors, I assure you that you are missing out on a lot of awesomeness. Further, most indie and small press authors are some of the kindest and funniest people you will ever interact with. (8xks8k6rdd4jyI ended that on a preposition, I know. I’m going to tell the editor in me to sit down and shut the hell up. You really don’t want to see the internal struggle I’ve got going on right now.)

Next year is shaping up to be even more amazing. There a lot of sequels coming out that I’m looking forward to reading. I’m invested in so many different series, I’m sure my husband longs for the days I only ignored everything around me when a new Harry Potter book came out. Now it seems I spend more time with my Kindle than him. (No, that’s a lie. I spend more time with my computer—which is falling apart—banging on the keyboard, than anything else.)

I have at least four releases next year, and I’m aiming for more. Coming on the horizon for me, though:

  • Promises of Virtue: the sequel to Virtue of Death from Hot Tree Publishing (February 4, 2017)
  • “Boston Crème Breakdown:” A short story included in the anthology Food and Romance Go Together from Satin Romance
  • Mi Amor: A novella coming from Satin Romance, a story about second chances and true love.
  • Anticipating Temptation: A novella coming from Satin Romance, which is about a girl who doesn’t love herself learning to love someone else and accept who she is. (It is probably my favorite piece that I’ve written to date, as well as being the most auto-biographical—there’s a lot of me in all of my characters, but even more of me in Char.)

I have two novels that I’m working on right now and I hope to be able to share details soon. The one will be released to beta kitties hands in January.

I wish you all a happy, healthy 2017—may it be filled with good friends, good laughs, and good books.
